وَٱلْعَـٰدِيَـٰتِ ضَبْحًا
By the racers, panting,

What is this surah about?
Scholarly explanation
Name The Surah has been titled so after the word al 'adiyat with which it opens. Period of Revelation Whether this is a Makki or a Madani Surah is disputed. Hadrat Abdullah bin Masud, Jabir, Hasan Basri, Ikrimah, and Ata say that it is Makki. Hadrat Anas bin Malik, and Qatadah say that it is Madani; and from Hadrat Ibn Abbas two views have been reported, first that it is a Makki Surah, and second that it is Madani. But the subject matter of the Surah and its style clearly indicate that it is not only Makki but was revealed in the earliest stage in Makkah. Theme and Subject Matter Its objective is to make the people realize how evil man becomes when he denies the Hereafter, or becomes heedless of it, and also to warn them that in the Hereafter not only their visible and apparent deeds but even the secrets hidden in their hearts will be subjected to scrutiny.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
100:2
فَٱلْمُورِيَـٰتِ قَدْحًا
And the producers of sparks [when] striking

فَٱلْمُغِيرَٰتِ صُبْحًا
And the chargers at dawn,

فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِۦ نَقْعًا
Stirring up thereby [clouds of] dust,

فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِۦ جَمْعًا
Arriving thereby in the center collectively,

100:6
إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لِرَبِّهِۦ لَكَنُودٌ
Indeed mankind, to his Lord, is ungrateful.

وَإِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌ
And indeed, he is to that a witness.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لِحُبِّ ٱلْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ
And indeed he is, in love of wealth, intense.

۞ أَفَلَا يَعْلَمُ إِذَا بُعْثِرَ مَا فِى ٱلْقُبُورِ
But does he not know that when the contents of the graves are scattered

وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِى ٱلصُّدُورِ
And that within the breasts is obtained,

إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّخَبِيرٌۢ
Indeed, their Lord with them, that Day, is [fully] Aware.
